Security Engineering & Cloud Security Agents
Problem Statement
Developers frequently check in Terraform or CloudFormation scripts containing security misconfigurations (e.g., publicly accessible S3 buckets, unencrypted databases, overly permissive Security Group rules 0.0.0.0/0). Static scanners identify the flaw, but leave the manual burden of writing the fix back on the developer.
Goal
Build an AI Agent that scans Terraform code, identifies security policy violations, and auto-generates executable patch pull requests (PRs).
Outcome Measurement
- Fix Rate: 92% of security findings auto-remediated via instant AI pull request suggestions.
- Developer Effort: Reduced code fix lead time from days to under 1 minute.
How the Code was Built
The workflow performs a dual-pass evaluation:
Scan_IaC: Parses HCL code block and identifies security violations.Synthesize_Fix: Outputs exact corrected Terraform code with inline security documentation comments.
Executable Code
from pydantic import BaseModel, Fieldfrom langchain_openai import ChatOpenAIclass IaCScanResult(BaseModel): has_violations: bool = Field(description="True if security violations exist") violations: list[str] = Field(description="List of detected policy violations") remediated_code: str = Field(description="Corrected Terraform code with fixes applied")def analyze_and_remediate_terraform(tf_code: str) -> IaCScanResult: llm = ChatOpenAI(model="gpt-4o", temperature=0) structured_llm = llm.with_structured_output(IaCScanResult) prompt = f"""You are a Cloud Security Engineering Agent.
